A beginner module on what forex trading is, how trading differs from investing, what you can trade, how brokers work, when the markets are open and what makes prices move.
To use MetaTrader 5, log in with your account login, password and server, choose a symbol in Market Watch, then press F9 or double-click the symbol to open New Order and pick Buy or Sell. This beginner module covers installing, the platform tour, netting and hedging, a first demo trade, order types, stop loss and take profit, and how to practise on a forex demo account.
A beginner module on how to read forex charts, covering candlestick anatomy, chart timeframes, trending and ranging markets, support and resistance, and the main types of trading charts.
A beginner module on risk management in forex, covering why beginners lose, position sizing, risk to reward ratios, margin calls and stop-outs, and a pre-trade checklist.
This level is for people who have never traded, or who have tried and want to learn the basics properly. You do not need any prior knowledge of markets, charts or trading platforms.
By the end you will be able to explain what a CFD is and how it differs from owning an asset. You will understand leverage and margin, and why they make losses grow as fast as gains. You will be able to work out pip value and the cost of a trade, find your way around MetaTrader 5 (MT5), and read a basic price chart. Most importantly, you will be able to place a trade on a demo account with a planned position size, a stop loss and a take profit, and explain why controlling risk comes before chasing returns.
Work through the modules in order, because each module builds on the one before. Every lesson has a worked example and a quick check, and the practical lessons end with a task to try on a demo account, which uses virtual money. Go at your own pace.
